Documented Field Results

The following projects were performed by EarthWorks Environmental, Inc. in developing the Matrix Enhanced Treatment System, "METS", for widespread commercial use.  These projects were completed in real world conditions and were required to meet remediation standards established by regulatory authorities.  The soil was treated with no special preparation or enhancement other than screening of excess debris as noted.

The projects were completed using either the METS concept, "Project A", or METS equipment in a variety of industrial and commercial applications and soil types.  The small "Eureka 40" pre-production unit is designed to process 40 tons of soil per hour while our larger "Yuba 160" production rig can treat over 160 tons of soil per hour on site and on time.

In all cases, the treatment method involved either a bio or chemical reagent process to completely degrade the contaminant.  It was our further goal to encounter increasingly more difficult soils and contaminants.  We are continuing in that effort during Project Year 2015 with more difficult soils and increased soil volumes.

Field Project A:

 Location/Year:  Nevada/1996
 Volume of soil:  1000 yd3
 Contamination type(s):  JP-8
Average level of contamination:  15 - 18,000 PPM
Results from confirmation testing:  Non-detect for JP-8

Details for this project can be seen HERE.

Field Project #1:

 Location/Year:  North Central California/1998
 Volume of soil:  250 yd3
 Contamination type(s):  Diesel fuel
Average level of contamination:  370 PPM
Results from confirmation testing:  Non-detect for diesel and BTEX for all samples (sensitivity: parts per-million)

Details for this project can be seen HERE.

Field Project #2:

 Location/Year:  Eastern Wyoming/1999
 Volume of soil:  2750 yd3
Contamination type(s):  Gasoline and diesel fuel
Average level of contamination:  3800 PPM diesel; 60 PPM gasoline
Results from confirmation testing:  Non-detect for diesel fuel, gasoline and BTEX (sensitivity at parts-per-million) for all samples.

Details for this project can be seen HERE.

Field Project #3:

 Location/Year:  California North Coast/1999
 Volume of soil:  1915 yd3
 Contamination type(s):  Gasoline and MTBE
Average level of contamination:  306 PPM gasoline; 31 PPM MTBE
Results from confirmation testing:  Non-detect for gasoline in all samples (sensitivity at parts-per-million).  Non-detect for MTBE in all samples (sensitivity at parts-per-billion).  Sixteen samples showed varying levels of BTEX (sensitivity at parts-per-billion), the highest of which was 280 PPB total Xylenes in one sample.  After two weeks of additional residence time, retest proved non-detect.

Details for this project can be seen HERE.

Field Project #4:

 Location/Year:  California North Coast/2003
 Volume of soil:  1200 yd3
Contamination type(s):  Diesel Fuel, Motor Oil
Average level of contamination:  0 - 1,650 PPM
Results from confirmation testing:  Non-detect for diesel fuel and motor oil.

Details for this project can be seen HERE.

Field Project #5:

 Location/Year:  California Foothills/2003
 Volume of soil:  503 yd3
Contamination type(s):  Diesel Fuel, Motor Oil
Average level of contamination:  0 - 31,000 PPM
Results from confirmation testing:  Non-detect for diesel fuel and motor oil.

Details for this project can be seen HERE.

Field Project #6:

 Location/Year:  California North Coast/2003
 Volume of soil:  9415 yd3
Contamination type(s):  Diesel Fuel, Motor Oil, 1-1 DCE
Average level of contamination:  0 - 2,200 PPM
Results from confirmation testing:  Non-detect for diesel fuel, motor oil and 1-1 DCE.

Details for this project can be seen HERE.
